ARTistic Pursuits, Inc. offers a wide selection of art curriculum books that contain projects in many different areas of art. We received the book that focused on Sculpture Technique Model. This book offers a unique introduction to the world of sculpting featuring contemporary art by working sculptors, written by Brenda Ellis and builds on the concepts taught in Sculpture Technique, CONSTRUCT but also stands on its own and is intended for upper elementary through high school level for a full year of art instruction.
The book is approximately 82 pages of instruction, art education and graphics. It is written in conversational manner so students can read and work on their own and contains three units:
Throughout the book are full-color pictures of contemporary art pieces that reflect the style being presented within each unit.
The end of each unit provides an evaluation, and the end of the book contains Evaluation Answer Sheets, a course description, classroom schedule and a template for the felt flowers.

How Did We Use It?
I was very excited to receive this book and to present it to my little budding artist. Even though the book is meant for upper elementary through high school, and really is a full year of high school art level, I felt like my upper elementary aged child could tackle it because my daughter loves art and has shown signs of having a gift in the area of art. She mostly enjoys painting, so I couldn't wait to introduce her to a new form of art - modeling. We started with the clay.
We also tried our hand at something new to us called felting. We decided to make the flowers project as a Mother's Day present for my mom. Not sure they turned out as great as we had hoped, but it was an interesting process to discover a new form of art.
What Did We Think?
The book covers a wide selection of modeling techniques. Some we had never heard of before, but it lays everything out including what supplies you need to finish the project. Most things were easy to find at our local hobby store. I'm happy that we got to experience this curriculum and to get our hands into different modeling techniques.
