What is SpeedyPrep?

First, let's talk about what a CLEP is the College Level Examination Program designed to allow students to test out of classes and still receive credits for the course. CLEP exams cover college level material, so SpeedyPrep has designed its program to serve students 16 or older, not younger than 16.
SpeedyPrep CLEP Exam has developed their materials to meet the College Board parameters. It is recommended that the student have completed the high school equivalent of the subject before studying the course on SpeedyPrep and that the progress bar reaches 90 to 100% before taking the CLEP exam.
SpeedyPrep is based on what is called the mastery learning principle, which basically means repeated exposure.
It uses what they refer to as fill-in-the-blank flashcards, that provide immediate feedback, videos, and written explanations.

When I logged onto the site, I was able to choose from a list of courses. After choosing a course, it presented the study material in the form of videos and the flashcards/questions.
The questions on the flashcards show you the answer immediately should you not know the answer to a question, so you can study the answer and understand it enough to get it right when you take the CLEP.
As you study the courses, a progress bar is displayed. The goal is to get the progress bar to 90% - 100% to qualify for the guarantee and to indicate enough mastery to tackle the CLEP exam.
I received six months access to the site.
There is monthly, quarterly, and yearly pricing, and SpeedyPrep comes with a guarantee when you take the CLEP exam.

How Did We Use It?

My son took the ACT when he was a freshman and was very close to being college ready in every subject, so I want him to take the test again to boost his score. My daughter, who is not 16 yet, had shown interest in CLEPPING out of college courses. So, I originally thought it could be used with one or both of them, but as it turned out, it was my son who I sat down with after I saw there was a study course on Information Systems & Computer Applications.

I logged on to check it out before I presented it to my son. My son is almost 17 and a Junior currently. I explored the site with the biology, Spanish, College Algebra, and American Literature but focused most on the Information Systems & Computer Applications since my son is focusing on programming for his future.

What Did We Think?

I thought that it was set up well using video clips, presenting the on-screen flashcards questions and written explanations. I also completely agree that the student should have completed the high school level of the course before attempting to use the study helps on SpeedyPrep for that course, because it seems to work better if you have base knowledge on the subject as it is not an instructional course, and the Spanish module is comprised of mostly flashcards/questions with answers.
