I was thrilled to get a chance to review Season 6: Underground Rising, Digital version from Brinkman Adventures. This is part of the new Brinkman Adventures of Real Stories, stories told based on true-to-life events in history.
The first story, Dutch Underground, starts with a grandmother, Omie, who was born in Holland but now lives in Canada, retelling a story to her grandchildren, Kate and Kitry Brinkman. The story being told is based on true events set during the time of WWII with the Dutch Underground and a time when thy had to make a very difficult decision whether they would save their family or help the Jews.
Following the Dutch Underground two-part story, the audio dramas continue with Twice Born Fly when Charlie Brinkman faces his fears involving an airplane, followed up with another story called I Wonder Why that involves two 11-year-old girls, Samantha and Alia, who begin by discussing a planned camping trip where Sam's family seeks answers from God after her mom's recent miscarriage and pursue moving to India to help orphans.
The six-part episode series is topped off with a 2-part intense story that takes place in Burma on a mission to save a village from a destructive army.
The audio digital files I received is separated into six segments and plays for about 2 hours. The stories told include:
55 Dutch Underground Part 1
56 Dutch Underground Part 2
57 Twice Born Fly
58 I Wonder Why
59 Free Burma Rangers Part 1
60 Free Burma Rangers Part 2

What is the Brinkman Adventures?
Brinkman Adventures is known for audio dramas that tell stories of modern day missionaries. With the launch of their latest, Season 6, they now bring history to life for the ears of listeners. This one is made up of four stories with the first 2-part drama based on the time of World War II and starts with grandchildren visiting their grandmother who immigrated to Canada, discusses the Dutch Underground, includes two stories that are more of a missionary tale, and ends with an intense 2-part historic-inspired story in Burma.
How Did We Use It?
I downloaded the audio digital files to play on my laptop. This included six episodes that lasted a total of more than 2 hours as opposed to their previous format of more than five hours of audio play.
What Did We Think?
I feel I should explain that I live among a family who typically resists purely audio dramas. So, the fact that I found these audio dramas easy to listen to is a big deal. They are well done and interesting. I really like how they have included real history inspired stories to their lineup. I found the stories based on real historic events interesting since normally history has a way of making my eyes glaze over. Not so with these audio dramas. They make you feel as though you are there. The most touching story, however, was the one that played out a story of God's purpose after losing a baby to miscarriage. Having experienced these feelings of wondering what God's plan was and why this tragedy happened to me personally, I really appreciated this one the most.
