Journey Through The Code - Lesson 9

This post is sponsored and any curriculum purchased through my affiliate code will provide commission and compensation to the owner of Puddle Jumping Blog.

Welcome to my journal blog entries about what it is like to use the Kingdom Code curriculum that teaches kids financial responsibility and how to build a business God's way. Today we are sharing about Lesson 9 in our Journey Through The Code, sponsored by The Kingdom Code. Come with us on a 27-lesson journey as we journal about our experience with The Kingdom Code curriculum!

We were asked to have our child choose a viable business before the end of Lesson 2 and to complete the Treasure Builder Permit form.

The program emphasizes service businesses, even though we are free to choose a goods-related business instead. The reason they stress service is because business usually requires less money since a goods business requires purchasing supplies and figuring out costs for each item. Service teaches children the ability to please someone else in order to receive compensation. If you choose a goods business, many of the activities will have to be adapted and cost/sale price must be taught thoroughly so profitability is achieved.

Here's our experience with LESSON 9:

OUR REMARKS ABOUT ACTIVITIES IN THE LESSON THAT WE FOUND TO BE ENGAGING:

This lesson was all about budgeting, and starting the lessons on the Kingdom Code Kids way to budget using the letters J O E Y S. The first lesson began with J is for Jesus, which taught about giving the first part of your income to Jesus, or a tithe to the church.

SUGGESTIONS, CHANGES, OR ADDITIONS MADE THAT WORKED PARTICULARLY WELL FOR OUR FAMILY:

As always, we adjust the lessons to accommodate one student rather than a group of kids. But, this is becoming second nature. Also, my daughter chose more of a goods related business, so we make adjustments for that as well since the program focuses on service-based businesses. These adjustments, now that we are on lesson 9, have become easy to tweak for our needs since the information in the lessons are solid regardless.

RECORDED OBSERVATIONS OF CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, MONEY SKILLS, BIBLE KNOWLEDGE, LIFE SKILLS, SOCIAL SKILLS, OR POSITIVE BEHAVIORS EXHITIBED OR ACQUIRED BY MY CHILD THAT I DIRECTLY ATTRIBUTE TO THE KINGDOM CODE CURRICULUM:

I am noticing that the discussion questions are opening up some great conversations. I am enjoying the one-on-one time of our lessons. My daughter is loving the Bible references and really likes the idea of being more organized. I was surprised that this child who has been in church or around churches all of her life said she didn't realize that tithing was a thing. So, that was a fun concept to explain.
