Is joy something you can muster up all by yourself? I really don't think so. I really believe that true joy is only found when we are in the presence of God. The Bible says:
You will make known to me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
In Your right hand there are pleasures forever. Psalm 16:11
So, to really experience joy, we must learn how to come before the throne of God, in His presence.
How do we do that?
Let's see what the Bible says about entering his presence:
First, we must have faith and believe that He exists and then humble ourselves, accepting His forgiveness:
James 4:10 reads: Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up!
THANKFULNESS, PRAISE AND SINGING
Psalm 100:2 says to come before his presence with singing
Psalm 100:4 says to enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise
DESIRE HIM - DRAW NEAR
James 4:8 says that when we draw near to God, he will draw near to you
John 7:37 talks of having a thirst for God and Matthew 11:28 then reads, Come unto him all you who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest... For my yoke is light and my burden is easy.
Romans 15:13 Reads:
Now, may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
