I have a little artist in my house who eats, breathes, and sleeps art, or more specifically, she absolutely loves to paint, so I was thrilled to get a chance to review Thin Stix 6pk of Classic Colors from The Pencil Grip, Inc. which provide all of the fun of tempera paints without needing to use water or even brushes.
What is Thin Stix?
I had reviewed Kwik Stix in the past and loved the concept of being able to paint with a non-messy method, but the tubes that contained the solid paint were larger, so the paint was nice for filling in large drawings but we needed something thinner for fine lines
- Enter Thin Stix!
Thin Stix are basically non-messy tempera paint in a tube, much like a glue stick. The tube makes it easy to hold and twist up. It also keeps the paint contained. This means no messy brushes, no water to dump over by mistake and absolutely no messy clean up - Just pure art that is actually fun. But, the best part is that it makes painting with tempera paint a lot less messy. There is literally no messy cleanup. The paint dries in 90 seconds after being applied to paper or any other surface.
I received a pack of six classic color paint Thin Stix that included red, yellow, primary blue, green, brown and black. Each paint stick is approximately 5" long, 2" diameter, great for littler hands, and have a built-in clip. The paint twists up from the bottom.

How Did We Use It?
My daughter had used Kwik Stix before, so she knew what to do when this pack of Thin Stix arrived. She already had plans for drawings with more definition and finer lines. I pretty much just let her use her creativity and go to town drawing and creating anything she wanted. She immediately opened the package and began coloring and designing on the coloring sheet that came with the package. After that, she began sketching flowers and outlining them with color.
I even shined up some scuffed boots with the black Thin Stix! And, shh! Don't tell, but I also used the white one on my dining room wall to cover up some patches that were left when sticky tape pulled off of it tearing some of the plaster.
What Did We Think?
I absolutely love the non-messy aspect of this product. Believe me, I know the heartache of cleaning up after art projects, but with Thin Stix, there is no clean up at all. I also love the many uses the Thin Stix provides. The primary colors were nice, and I was also happy to see the black and the brown for shading and outlining. It's very nice how the paint dries in 90 seconds. My daughter would actually set a timer to see when her project would be ready to touch.
