When a Traditional Textbook Is Not Doing The Trick

Sometimes, the best books aren't textbooks at all. My very favorite books I've ever used may not be official text books. Instead, I'm so happy when I find a book my child actually embraces. For my son, the For Dummies books have more than once done the trick in keeping his interest and helping him understand a subject in very little time. My daughter's history book this year is a book published by Time Magazine about the Century. She is learning so much more than I have ever heard her retain in all of her years of schooling. I know she's learning, because she will tell me tidbits of historical info. at odd moments when it comes to mind, in a conversation.

Sometimes, the best place to find the best books for learning is at a thrift store. One of my favorites is Savers and Goodwill Outlet. Goodwill Outlet is especially friendly on the pocket book, selling their books at like .25 an inch.
