Road Trip For King and Country Because Sometimes Homeschooling Looks Like This - Day 31 of 365

Day 31 of Homeschool day 365 posts looks like this:

So, my daughter got her license on February 13, a day after she turned 16, which means she had a sweet 16 birthday! One of her big gifts that she opened were tickets to The Roadshow, a Christian music festival much like Winterjam.

The highway is not my thing, but my hubby couldn't drive this time since he had several gigs scheduled, so it turned into a mom and daughter road trip to Cape Girardeau, overnight.

Tickets are just $10 at the door, but I had purchased VIP tickets since I didn't want to drive that far for a chance of not getting in the doors.

I snagged an amazing hotel room for free using points from a hotel rewards group we belong to.

We checked into the hotel and headed across the parking lot to Olive Garden, feasted on their Never-ending deal and stashed to-go containers full of salad and extra entree to take back to the room for after the concert. Then, we headed back to the room to freshen up and head to the concert.

We only waited outside for about an hour before the VIP doors opened, and my daughter made a bee-line to the B stage where she knew For King and Country would come out onto part way into their show.

She had made miniature koalas that had the names of Luke Smallbone's two boys stitched on the little blue blanket the koala was holding. She crafted drums to look like their daddy Luke's drums, and she handed off the first two koalas at a previous concert to Luke. This time, Luke and his wife have welcomed baby Leo, so she made a koala for Leo. She wasn't able to give this one directly to Luke, but it did make it's way to the proper owner, apparently (see screenshot further down in blog with Joel holding the koala next to his face). Too cute!
