Review of His Mercy Endureth Forever Psalm 136 Child's Book

I was so excited to have the opportunity of receiving HIS MERCY endureth FOREVER psalm 136 illustrated by Kathleen DeJong, cover design by Erika Kiel and published by Reformed Free Publishing Association. rfpa.org

The book walks the reader through Psalms 136 in a beautifully illustrated manner.

I am both a lover of God's Word and a lover of photography and art, so any book that takes Scripture and creates amazingly stunning illustrations to emphasize the message is going to be a winner to me. This one does it well.

The book begins with the first line found in Psalms 136:

O Give Thanks unto the Lord; for He is Good: For His mercy endureth for ever.

This was all I needed to be hooked and want to keep turning the pages.

As you turn the pages, you will discover 14 pages of text accompanied with 14 pages of illustrations that correspond with the text. Toward the end of the book there is a hym, O Give Thanks Unto the God of Heaven: For His Mercy Endureth For Ever. This song is displayed by it's chords to be played on a piano or other instrument, and next to it on the adjoining page is another illustration.

The end of the book contains a Glossary of terms, so you not only have the Scripture's words, illustrations, and music, but you also have a complete vocabulary lesson at your fingertips.

The illustrator chose the illustrations to display some actual historical events from Scripture and others to display the spiritual meaning behind the words.

The book is geared toward ages 6-9 and would make an inspirational read-aloud at bedtime or to inspire a discussion about God's mercies at any time. Though, as an adult, I found it to be extremely inspirtional as well, so really there is no age limit on who can get something out of this book.

O, give thanks to God for his mercies, and thank him for creating illustrators who have the ability to present His Word in such a lovely way.
