Welcome back for another lesson walk through with my journal blog entries about what it is like to use the Kingdom Code curriculum that teaches kids financial responsibility and how to build a business God's way. Here's our experience with LESSON 6:

OUR REMARKS ABOUT ACTIVITIES IN THE LESSON THAT WE FOUND TO BE ENGAGING:

This lesson was a review of the first 5 lessons, so it was entirely made up of information we have already covered and was familiar to my child. It was nice to take the time to fill out the several-page worksheet on this lesson making sure she understood what was learned so far.

We also plunged into one of the Bonus activities, talking about supply and demand and the idea of a winter coat in summer or Valentine candy the day after. She really got this concept well.

SUGGESTIONS, CHANGES, OR ADDITIONS MADE THAT WORKED PARTICULARLY WELL FOR OUR FAMILY:

Aside from noticing that one of the answers in the Answer Key to the Worksheet was switched around with another answer, the only adaptation we made with this lesson is the same one we've been making simply to make the curriculum applicable to a single student rather than a group setting. This means that her presentation will not be in front of children her own age, and she will not be giving or receiving their constructive criticism, which for my specific child I think this is a good thing.

RECORDED OBSERVATIONS OF CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, MONEY SKILLS, BIBLE KNOWLEDGE, LIFE SKILLS, SOCIAL SKILLS, OR POSITIVE BEHAVIORS EXHITIBED OR ACQUIRED BY MY CHILD THAT I DIRECTLY ATTRIBUTE TO THE KINGDOM CODE CURRICULUM:

I really appreciated that the curriculum stopped here to review everything we have learned so far before moving forward with the next lesson. I feel like the first five lessons were jam-packed with amazing information and activities that it was good to make sure it was all sinking in before moving forward. Now, we look very forward to Lesson 7 which talks about making a sale.

We were asked to have our child choose a viable business before the end of Lesson 2 and to complete the Treasure Builder Permit form.

The program emphasizes service businesses, even though we are free to choose a goods-related business instead. The reason they stress service is because business usually requires less money since a goods business requires purchasing supplies and figuring out costs for each item. Service teaches children the ability to please someone else in order to receive compensation. If you choose a goods business, many of the activities will have to be adapted and cost/sale price must be taught thoroughly so profitability is achieved.
