My motivating pics on my fridge! |
Of course, the desire to live a healthy long life is inspiration, but the number one tangible motivator for me to jump in and exercise, eat right and stay fit is to look at pictures of me when I was fit.
I have placed three pictures on my fridge for me to see whenever I go to grab something to eat. I don't normally like cluttering up the front of my fridge, but for this, a kitchen timer and a child's homework assignment, I have made an exception.
When I look at these pictures, I think – “Wow! I want to look like that again”.
Maybe it doesn’t work for everyone, but seeing what I want to look like as my goal is motivation to me.
I also decided today, while shopping, that I refuse to buy any more clothes to fit my body until I go down at least one more clothing size. While I haven’t reached an exorbitantly huge size in clothing, the size that fits these thighs and waist and arms is a lot larger than I’m comfortable admitting.
I have saved a few pairs of my favorite clothing in my smaller sizes for two reasons:
1) because I want to have something to wear when I do lose the inches, and
2) It motivates me to see those smaller sized clothes that I know I once fit comfortably.
When I see pictures of my size 8 body with nice muscle tone, I see my goal in front of me.
When I see those size 8 jeans hanging around waiting for someone to fit into them again before they go completely out of style, I find motivation.

You've got some great methods to keep you motivated! For the past 4 years, I've bought almost all my clothes from Goodwill until I reach my goal size, as I refuse to spend money on clothes that I may only wear for a short time. Keep at your goals with determination and you'll no doubt get to where you want to be!! Let me know if I can help in any way -- accountability, advice, just someone to vent to. Best wishes!! :)
ReplyDeletePutting those photos up of yourself when you were in better shape sounds like a wonderful motivational tool! I also agree that it is a great idea to wait until you are closer to your goal weight before you purchase new clothes. Keep it up and with determination and time you will fit into that size 8 again! Have a terrific weekend!
