The story is about a cheerleader, named Samantha Sanderson. Her dream is to become an award-winning journalist, just like her mom. She gets the story she's been hoping for, to publish in the Middle School paper, when the school's mean girl Nikki is discovered to be the victim of several attacks. Samantha is determined to get to the bottom of this and turn it into a story about bullies that will win her notoriety as a journalist, not to mention some secret private detective work.
I handed the book to my pre-teen, 12-year-old daughter and asked her to read it and let me know what she thought. Here's what she had to say:
Samantha Sanderson On The Scene is the second Samantha book in the Faithgirlz books. This book is a great way of combining Jesus with an interesting story kids will love. It follows Samantha while she is practicing reporting skills so she can be like her mom someday. She then discovers that a "mean girl" Nikki is getting mean notes from who knows who. She offers to help her figure out who it is. Nikki has never been nice to anyone, but her best friend Aubrey who isn't all that nice to her. So Samantha has trouble feeling bad for her, but she helps anyway. The bully gets worse and worse, and they're doing everything from texting her to sending her an email from a fake user; will Samantha figure out who's behind this? And, in doing so, will she be able to handle her own bad news? To find out read Samantha Sanderson on the Scene.
