Homeschool Review Crew - Thin Stix Creativity Pack From The Pencil Grip, Inc.

With my little artist in the house, I was thrilled to get a chance to review the Thin Stix Creativity Pack from The Pencil Grip, Inc. not only because they allow her to create without the mess, but because this Creativity Pack was such a delight to receive and open up when it came in the mail.

What is the Thin Stix Creativity Pack from The Pencil Grip, Inc.?

Thin Stix are a thinner version of Kwik Stix, which are mess-free, non-toxic, solid tempera paint in a plastic tube much like a glue stick that you twist up as you use it. It dries in 90 seconds, so there is no messy clean up. The Thin Stix basically deliver the same non-messy artistic experience only they allow the artist to be more precise in drawing thinner lines, more like a thick pen or marker.

We received a 24-color pack of Thin Stix that included:

• 12 classic
• 6 neon
• 6 metalix colors

These hand-held, non-messy paint stix work great on paper, but they also work well on a number of other materials as well. They work well on poster board, wood, cardboard, and just about anything that allows paint to dry on it.

They are super easy to use. Just take the cap off, twist the paint stick up slightly, and begin painting. Yon won't need a paint smock or even any water. Once applied to paper, or whatever foundation you choose, the solid tempera paints dry completely in 90 seconds.

How Did We Use It?

My daughter is a little artist, so anything that includes art is right up her alley. She especially loves painting, so these are perfect for her. I just let her unleash creativity and use them for any and every art project or even for everyday school lessons that involve painting. We even used them to touch up some around-the-house paint nicks and to touch up an old toy.

This time around, we focused on projects that included the Metalix and the neon colors. My daughter chose to mix the two together to create some shiny, sparkly neon flare. First, I wanted to show you how the paints work on a number of surfaces. We used some rubber rain boots with the gold metalix paint to create the rosemaling pattern on Princess Anna boots (from Frozen). They turned out great.

  She also created a beautiful flower using the neon pink and accented with pink and green Metalix.

She then designed a couple beautiful sunsets over the ocean themed prints using mostly metalix.

And, my favorite - A Christmas tree using neons and shiny metalix for the star and silver accents. I may have to have her put this one on a canvas. I really like it!

What Did We Think?

We absolutely love the presentation of this creativity pack. It would be so fun to open as a gift. I know, we really got excited when we opened the package that came in the mail. Once it's opened, the best part is the non-messy aspect yet you still get all the benefits of paint that is easy to use in a hand-held crayon-like paint stick.
