I was thrilled to get a chance to review Soundsory from Sound for Life Ltd.

What is Soundsory?

This is an amazing product with a fascinating concept behind it. Soundsory is a program that uses an air and bone conduction to deliver sound and involves a multi-sensory approach that can help people with:

Balance/coordination
Motor delays
Autism spectrum
Developmental delays
sensory and auditory processing
ADD/ADHD

The headphones come pre-programmed with everything you need to listen, and then you receive an access code to view the daily exercises. The music is designed to work with neuro-acoustic modifications and movement exercises. The headphones are programmed with 40 days worth of 30-minute sessions. Each day consists of two parts. The first part lasts 25 minutes with rhythmic music listening, and the last 5 minutes of each session is used in conjunction with body movement exercises.

The headphones can also be switched to a Bluetooth mode to use as you would with any other headphones. This can be used with anyone age 3 and above.

How Did We Use It?

So, the way we used it is probably a bit different than any other reviewer on this Crew. We didn't use it with a child...

In May of this year, my husband quite unexpectedly suffered a medical crisis that left him with damage to the left side of his brain, just above the language center. To look at him, you wouldn't know anything happened. To talk with him in a conversation, you probably wouldn't guess unless you notice him describing words instead of identifying the actual word. When we began using Soundsory, he had not been able to read words. He does read music well, but no words. He was able to pick up a guitar and play from the start.

It is encouraged that the user engages in an activity while listening to music, so my husband practiced writing, walking, playing guitar, and building wooden planks.

I was very excited to have the opportunity to work with this product with high anticipation that it would help as part of his therapy in recovery.

What Did We Think?

I'll be flat out honest in admitting that as I watch God's miraculous hand in my husband's recovery, it's actually quite difficult to pinpoint the steps or therapy that helped create the leaps into healing, but I have noticed that since using this that he has been comprehending written words faster.
