Here's our experience with LESSON 15:

OUR REMARKS ABOUT ACTIVITIES IN THE LESSON THAT WE FOUND TO BE ENGAGING:

Lesson 15 begins the second half of the book's lessons. Yes, that's right! We are on the second half of our journey already!

One of my favorite parts of this lesson is the part about the historical tidbits from Thomas Edison. Edison is one my all-time favorite inventors/innovators.

SUGGESTIONS, CHANGES, OR ADDITIONS MADE THAT WORKED PARTICULARLY WELL FOR OUR FAMILY:

This lesson is entitled TIME FOR A CHECK UP. It began with a proclamation about trying new things and testing new ideas. it included a worksheet and activities. The lesson talked about evaluating our business plan that we wrote back in Lesson 4. This was a really good time to do this since now we have had time to work on trying to make sales and discovering what is and isn't working.

RECORDED OBSERVATIONS OF CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, MONEY SKILLS, BIBLE KNOWLEDGE, LIFE SKILLS, SOCIAL SKILLS, OR POSITIVE BEHAVIORS EXHITIBED OR ACQUIRED BY MY CHILD THAT I DIRECTLY ATTRIBUTE TO THE KINGDOM CODE CURRICULUM:

Just like a visit to the doctor, it was time to do a checkup on my daughter's business. She reviewed ideas as she has been doing all along, what works, what doesn't? and is hoping to grow her business even bigger. Now, she has a goal in mind as to what she will be investing her money into, and is moving forward with the second part of the rest of the book.

We were asked to have our child choose a viable business before the end of Lesson 2 and to complete the Treasure Builder Permit form.

The program emphasizes service businesses, even though we are free to choose a goods-related business instead. The reason they stress service is because business usually requires less money since a goods business requires purchasing supplies and figuring out costs for each item. Service teaches children the ability to please someone else in order to receive compensation. If you choose a goods business, many of the activities will have to be adapted and cost/sale price must be taught thoroughly so profitability is achieved. She has also done a good job going through her closet and under her bed and evaluating what needs to be given away or sold or revamped in some fashion.

The sales code idea of this lesson was to LISTEN CAREFULLY AND DO NOT INTERRUPT!
