We were asked to have our child choose a viable business before the end of Lesson 2 and to complete the Treasure Builder Permit form.
The program emphasizes service businesses, even though we are free to choose a goods-related business instead. The reason they stress service is because business usually requires less money since a goods business requires purchasing supplies and figuring out costs for each item. Service teaches children the ability to please someone else in order to receive compensation. If you choose a goods business, many of the activities will have to be adapted and cost/sale price must be taught thoroughly so profitability is achieved.

Here's our experience with LESSON14:
Lesson 14 was all about a moment to stop and reflect and take some time to review what has been learned so far. We found this to be the perfect placement of a review, since it is halfway through the book. That's right! We are already halfway through the book.
SUGGESTIONS, CHANGES, OR ADDITIONS MADE THAT WORKED PARTICULARLY WELL FOR OUR FAMILY:
My daughter actually completed this lesson by herself since I have been so wrapped up in helping my husband recover, but then she gave it to me to look over. I had done all but one of the 13 lessons prior with her, she did Lesson 13 on her own as well. So, I knew what we had covered and could easily look over the review.
The review consisted of a Proclamation, doing a worksheet that looked back over all of the concepts taught so far, talked about a comfort zone, reviewed the KCK Sales Code, talked about building a good reputation, added a little bit of history about Heinz ketchup and how it got its start, and talked about money management and follow-up calls.
The key terms were words like creativity, determination, historical fiction, and reputation.
RECORDED OBSERVATIONS OF CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, MONEY SKILLS, BIBLE KNOWLEDGE, LIFE SKILLS, SOCIAL SKILLS, OR POSITIVE BEHAVIORS EXHITIBED OR ACQUIRED BY MY CHILD THAT I DIRECTLY ATTRIBUTE TO THE KINGDOM CODE CURRICULUM:
This curriculum has really sent the message home about integrity for us. My daughter is still trying to get a grasp on making sales and building her business, but this has been a really good foundation so far for us.
