Welcome to my journal blog entries about what it is like to use the Kingdom Code curriculum that teaches kids financial responsibility and how to build a business God's way. Today we are sharing about Lesson 21 in our Journey Through The Code, sponsored by The Kingdom Code. Come with us on a 27-lesson journey as we journal about our experience with The Kingdom Code curriculum!

We were asked to have our child choose a viable business before the end of Lesson 2 and to complete the Treasure Builder Permit form.

The program emphasizes service businesses, even though we are free to choose a goods-related business instead. The reason they stress service is because business usually requires less money since a goods business requires purchasing supplies and figuring out costs for each item. Service teaches children the ability to please someone else in order to receive compensation. If you choose a goods business, many of the activities will have to be adapted and cost/sale price must be taught thoroughly so profitability is achieved.

Here's our experience with LESSON 21:

Update on progress: Besides learning character code conduct for business and life, MY DAUGHTER HAS NOW SOLD ABOUT 4 OR 5 ITEMS IN HER TREASURE BUILDER BUSINESS AND IS ENCOURAGED...

I will search for wisdom and understanding, Just like I would search for hidden treasure..

This is the proclamation for this lesson 21. I'd say there is some really rich information starting with these words. The lesson proceeds with a worksheet, updating your ledger, and activity on becoming a better buyer, as well as an in-depth discussion about Pied Piper Marketing, emotions, and how to use discernment in marketing.

OUR REMARKS ABOUT ACTIVITIES IN THE LESSON THAT WE FOUND TO BE ENGAGING:

When my daughter was really little, for some unknown reason, her older siblings thought it was funny to have her walk around the house as if playing a fife and singing:

SHE'S A PIED PIED PIPER GIRL, SHE SINGS, OH YES SHE SINGS!

I cannot do it justice without video, but I won't do that to her for the sake of embarrassment. But, it was hilariously entertaining at the time.

So, when I saw that there was a brief story in this lesson about the Pied Piper, it made me smile.

SUGGESTIONS, CHANGES, OR ADDITIONS MADE THAT WORKED PARTICULARLY WELL FOR OUR FAMILY:

These lessons are becoming second nature to us now and requiring less and less of my intense interaction with my child for her to complete them. Though I am still overseeing her Treasure Builder efforts and reviewing each lesson, she is able to sit down and read them and put them into action without my intense efforts to make it all happen, as was required in the very beginning to get her started.

RECORDED OBSERVATIONS OF CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, MONEY SKILLS, BIBLE KNOWLEDGE, LIFE SKILLS, SOCIAL SKILLS, OR POSITIVE BEHAVIORS EXHITIBED OR ACQUIRED BY MY CHILD THAT I DIRECTLY ATTRIBUTE TO THE KINGDOM CODE CURRICULUM:

I loved that this lesson addressed emotions and how advertisements feed on this. I really think that Self Control, as a fruit of the Spirit, is very important to learn as a character trait for everyone.
