Where's Peara? Home of the Throwed Rolls

If you're from Missouri, you probably already have guessed where Peara is today.

Home of the Throwed Rolls, also known as Lambert's Cafe'. This one is located about an hour northeast of Branson.

The first thing we did when we arrived was to wait, and wait, and wait. Even though we got here before the noon rush, it was a busy and popular place. All in all, the wait was worth it and really not astronomically horrible.

While we waited, we noticed this cute sign on the window.  Get it? The place is famous for their hot rolls that they toss to serve them to the customers. Customers have to have a good catching arm to nab one. But, be careful! They are hot!

You can read the history of Lambert's Cafe here:

The food was incredible southern cooking, and they bring you additional food items such as fried okra, macaroni and tomatoes, and even put sorghum on your roll if you catch one. We definitely had plenty of food to go around.

Oh, but a side note: If you do visit, be sure to bring cash or a check book. Lamberts does not accept credit cards in the restaurant. I don't know if the gift shop holds the same policy. We browsed quickly and didn't buy anything. But, just be prepared because there are plenty of cute souvenirs in the gift shop, and you definitely don't want to have to pass up a delicious meal.

Is it just me? Look - It looks like my pot pie is looking back at me!

I couldn't help but notice on the way out, that the sign across the street was for Jack Spratts. Who remembers the old nursery rhyme:

Jack Spratt could eat no fat. His wife could eat no lean, and so between the two of them they licked the platter clean!

  1. There is actually a Lambert's Cafe about two hours from here at the beach in Foley, but I have never been!
