Is joy something you can muster up all by yourself? I really don't think so. I really believe that true joy is only found when we are in the presence of God. The Bible says:
You will make known to me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
In Your right hand there are pleasures forever. Psalm 16:11
Today, I want to look at the dictionary definition of joy. Joy is described as a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.

It's true that joy feels pleasurable, but when you are walking in true joy that only comes from the Spirit of God, it's more than a mere feeling or emotion. Joy engulfs you and overtakes your entire being, both physical and spiritual. It is a noun, but gives the sensation of a verb.
Ironically, sometimes to get to the point of joy, it takes rejoicing, which is the verb of the very word we are striving to attain - JOY!
Joy is more than a happy feeling. We can experience explainable joy in the midst of the worst situations. It is a peace that passes all understanding.
