Here's our experience with LESSON 18:

She sold her first crocheted items, so we had a gross, net and expenses numbers to work with.

The lesson was about calculating gross and net income and expenses for the business and about perseverance.

OUR REMARKS ABOUT ACTIVITIES IN THE LESSON THAT WE FOUND TO BE ENGAGING:

We loved the discussion about Anne Sullivan and Helen Keller and perseverance. We also liked the bonus activity of discussing disabilities, challenges, and overcoming them.

SUGGESTIONS, CHANGES, OR ADDITIONS MADE THAT WORKED PARTICULARLY WELL FOR OUR FAMILY:

The little brief history of Helen Keller and how Anne Sullivan allowed God to work a miracle through her as she taught Helen to "read" by signing into her hands and to speak. This was wonderful that it was brief and inspiring.

RECORDED OBSERVATIONS OF CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, MONEY SKILLS, BIBLE KNOWLEDGE, LIFE SKILLS, SOCIAL SKILLS, OR POSITIVE BEHAVIORS EXHITIBED OR ACQUIRED BY MY CHILD THAT I DIRECTLY ATTRIBUTE TO THE KINGDOM CODE CURRICULUM:

We discussed perseverance and how my husband, my daughter's dad, is overcoming obstacles of disability challenges following a medical emergency he experienced in May. We are all still adjusting and part of the reason she wants to be successful in her treasure builder. We are inspired at his hard work.

This lesson also was wonderful at including an Activity and explanation of figuring Gross, Net income and expenses.

We were asked to have our child choose a viable business before the end of Lesson 2 and to complete the Treasure Builder Permit form.

The program emphasizes service businesses, even though we are free to choose a goods-related business instead. The reason they stress service is because business usually requires less money since a goods business requires purchasing supplies and figuring out costs for each item. Service teaches children the ability to please someone else in order to receive compensation. If you choose a goods business, many of the activities will have to be adapted and cost/sale price must be taught thoroughly so profitability is achieved.
