Words are powerful and need to be chosen carefully. A simple word can put a smile on someone’s face or make them cry. As important as the spoken word is, there are times that what is not spoken is even more important than those words that come out of our mouths. Sometimes it’s not just the words we speak that build someone up, tear someone down, or bring about blessings or curses. In at least one culture, Masai, when a child, a woman, or a warrior dies their name is never spoken again. This could prove to be a problem if their name is the same as a frequently used word, but they remain steadfast in never speaking that word again.
